Claire Scott ist in Bristol geboren und aufgewachsen. Mit vierundzwanzig machte sie eine Interrailtour quer durch Europa. Sie erinnert sich vor allem daran, dass ihr Rucksack viel zu schwer war. Warum hatte sie auch zwölf Paar Schuhe mitgenommen? Die wichtigste Reise in Scotts Leben war aber eine andere: ein Billigflug nach Berlin – one-way. Seit sechs Jahren lebt sie nun in Berlin, wo die deutsche Grammatik ihr unfreiwilliges Hobby geworden ist. Eine Fahrkarte für zwei ist ihr Debütroman.
