Dr Elizabeth Hallam Smith was the first female Librarian at the House of Lords and before that was the Director of Public Services at The National Archives, Kew. She works closely with the Speaker’s media team to promote Parliament’s history, as her discovery of a hidden door-passage in Westminster Hall in 2020 brought worldwide attention.
