The author was born in Kingston, Jamaica and moved to the United States at fifteen. Jade studied at Loyola University Chicago, graduating from the School of Social Work. After graduation, the author continued her study in physical therapy. Jade worked as a physical therapist in the Detroit and Cleveland areas and later began business as a health consultant in Chicago, Illinois.
