Linda McDougall is a New Zealander. She came to London in 1961 to attend the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. When she returned home three years later, she met Yorkshireman Austin Mitchell who was a university lecturer in New Zealand, and they came back to Britain to indulge their joint passions for televi¬sion and politics. Austin was the Labour Member of Parliament for Great Grimsby from a 1977 by-election until 2015. He died in 2021. Linda is the author of
