Meena Alexander is the author of seven previous books of poetry. Her poems have been widely anthologized, translated and set to music. Illiterate Heart was the winner of the PEN Open Book prize. She is the editor of Indian Love Poems. Her works include two novels, two books of academic criticism and two volumes of essays, most recently Poetics of Dislocation. She is the author of the critically acclaimed memoir Fault Lines. She has been a Guggenheim Fellow in Poetry and has received awards from the Fulbright foundation, Rockefeller foundation and the Arts Council of England. She lives in New York City where she is Distinguished Professor of English at Hunter College/Graduate Center CUNY and each year, she returns to India. www.meenaalexander.com '
