The goal of this textbook in applied statistics is to introduce students or professionals to data-driven decision-making in public service. It introduces basic but powerful applied statistical techniques to those who have limited or even no prior exposure to statistics. Avoiding mathematical jargon and computations, it describes how and where to apply commonly used statistical techniques. It also explains how to use a well-known statistical software - the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) to analyze data in the field of public service, administration, and policy to make data-driven decisions. Finally, it explains how to effectively communicate your findings to audiences that lack a statistical background.
