Jesus Christ: His Life and Times offers a short informative overview of the life of Jesus. It's neither preachy nor religious, but a biography of Jesus Christ, the man.
In under two hours you will get to know Jesus; his birth, childhood, his ministry; his last days on earth; and his resurrection. The book is written in a simple easy to read style that will appeal to adults and younger readers.
Excerpt:
Next Jesus shared the parable of the lost sheep with his disciples. When the shepherd searches the entire mountain for a lost sheep, he is happier when he finds it, than he is for all of the sheep that never strayed.
"God also seeks out the lost sheep," he told them. God seeks out the sinners, who have lost their way, and when he finds them, he offers them forgiveness for their sins.
Peter asked, "Lord, how often is my brother to sin against me and be forgiven? Up to seven times?"
"Seven times," said Jesus, "I say up to seventy-seven times."
To make things even clearer for his disciples to understand, Jesus told them the story of the wicked servant and the King.
A servant was brought before the king to settle up his debts, and when he couldn't pay, the king ordered the servant, his wife, his children, and everything he owned to be sold to repay the debt.
When he heard his punishment, the servant fell to his knees, begging the king to be merciful with him. He would repay everything. When he heard these words, the king forgave him and cancelled the debt.
But when the servant left the king, he came upon a man who owed him a hundred silver coins, and began choking him, and demanded that the man repay him immediately. The man fell to his knees and begged for mercy. He would repay everything.
The servant showed no mercy. He had the man thrown in jail until he could pay the debt. When the other servants saw what happened, they were outraged and told the king everything they saw.
The king called the wicked servant back and told him, "I cancelled all of your debt because you begged for mercy. Shouldn't you have had mercy on your fellow servant, just as I had on you?"
The outraged king had the man thrown in jail and tortured until he could pay the debt.
When Jesus finished the story, he told his disciples, "This is how my Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother or sister from your heart."
