Né en 1935 à New York, Robert Silverberg a publié sa première nouvelle à l’âge de dix-huit ans et son premier roman, Révolte sur Alpha C, à dix-neuf ans à peine. Le Cycle de Majipoor, paru tout au long des années 1980 et 1990, est son œuvre la plus célèbre. Il a reçu en 2004, pour l’ensemble de son œuvre, le titre de Grand Maître de la science-fiction, la plus haute distinction honorifique du domaine, décerné par l’Association des auteurs américains de science-fiction.

Under that name, she publishes bestselling science fiction and fantasy, award-winning mysteries, acclaimed mainstream fiction, controversial nonfiction, and the occasional romance. Beginning with work at the innovative publishing company, Pulphouse, followed by her award-winning tenure at The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction, she took fifteen years off before returning to editing with the original anthology series Fiction River, published by WMG Publishing. She acts as series editor with her husband, writer Dean Wesley Smith, and edits at least two anthologies in the series per year on her own.

Charles Sheffield (1935 - 2002)
Charles Sheffield, born in the UK in 1935, graduated from St John's College Cambridge with a Double First in Mathematics and Physics. Moving to the USA in the mid 1960's, he began working in the field of particle physics which lead to a consultancy with NASA and landed him the position of chief scientist at the Earth Satellite Corporation. Best known for writing hard SF, his career as a successful science fiction writer began in response to his grief over the loss of his first wife to cancer in 1977; Sheffield has been awarded both the Hugo and Nebula for his work and won the 1992 John W. Campbell Memorial Award for Best Science Fiction Novel for Brother to Dragons.. He also served as President of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America between 1984 and 1986.
