A romance that threatens the fragile peace between their tribes.A romance that threatens the fragile peace between their tribes.
Carys, daughter of Sorcha, the chieftain of the Celtic Dun Creg clan and Lucius, former cavalry officer of Rome's Second Legion, wants to be accepted as a warrior. However, her extensive family of protective parents and uncles is determined she will continue as weapons tutor to her many siblings and cousins instead. When Carys ignores her family's order to stay far from the border with their hostile Dumnone neighbours, she encounters the handsome and beguiling Dumnone warrior, Breock. Meeting him once isn't enough and soon she's falling in love with the enemy.
Breock, chieftain of the Askel Groghen clan of the Dumnone wants revenge against the Durotriges people of Dun Creg who killed his father when Breock was just a lad. Now he's an adult and has vowed to wipe out his father's enemies, by fair means or foul. But an outbreak of hostilities between the two clans will bring the Roman legion stationed at Isca Dumnoniorum onto their lands and no good will ever come from that. Bound by the peace treaty with the Durotriges that his tribe's king has decreed to keep the Roman army from their lands, Breock sees that through Carys, there's a way to achieve his revenge…if he can play her along for a little while longer. But by the gods, he's starting to fall under her spell!
Will Breock growing feelings for Carys overcome his life-long desire to revenge his father's death?
Will Carys heed the warnings of her clan and deny her attraction to Breock?
