China continues to be a country full of mystery for the western world, despite the fact that hundreds of studies and analysis are published on a yearly basis which are intended to explain the mechanisms that move its economy, political structure and even its geographical features. Nevertheless, and even with the huge interest that exists in this Asian giant, there are very few books that provide a micro-level account of what is happening in this country today. China’s New Leaders is therefore an exception, a much needed breath of fresh air that takes a look at the economic situation of this country from the point of view of its women entrepreneurs. Julia Pérez-Cerezo emerges herself in the daily life of these women and recounts their story from an Asian point of view, by allowing them to do the talking without applying any Western filters and avoiding, as far as possible, any interpretation of the events. In this way the reader is permitted to extract the vital life lessons from each account and come to their own conclusions.
