1920, England
When Clementine Cooper buys a lamp from Harrods she finds more inside she ever bargained for. On cleaning her glimmering new treasure she is met with the startling vision of Paritosh, the genie trapped within. As the owner of the lamp, Clementine is entitled to three wishes which she uses to win the affections of Blake Edgerton, the most eligible gentleman in town. There's only one tiny hitch in her otherwise flawless plan to snare a wealthy suitor, she is overcome with desire every time she is in the presence of her smart-witted, beguiling genie.
Disgruntled after centuries of serving others and never fulfilling his own heart's desire, Paritosh couldn't be less enthused about being awoken by yet another greedy human. He soon discovers however that Clementine Cooper is not like the other mistresses he has served. Could pleasure be found in pleasing others alone? Certainly, that is how it feels when he starts to unpick the natural order for this unusual gem of a woman.
Though her physical desire for him is more than evident, he knows she doesn't return his deepest affections. Even if she did he is bound to the lamp and thus can never be bound to a woman. Still, that doesn't stop him hoping that somehow, someday a mistress and a genie might become more.
