"Crome Yellow" is the debut novel by Aldous Huxley, published in 1921. It is a social satire that has been well-received and adapted into different forms of media. The novel takes place at a house party at Crome, where the story is primarily seen through the eyes of Denis Stone, a young poet. Denis is secretly in love with Anne Wimbush, but she seems more interested in the artist Gombauld. The party also includes various other characters, each with their own quirks and intellectual conceits. The novel explores themes of sexuality, alternative spirituality, and the criticism of contemporary society. Huxley's satire is based on real people and places, and the novel contains parodies and narratives within the main narrative. "Crome Yellow" has been adapted into a radio play and a contemporary Australian novel, and it has also inspired a musical called "Virginity.
