Nick nodded, and Bonnie couldn't believe the way he watched her while she was talking like she was the most interesting person in the world. It had been awhile since someone had paid attention to her like that.
"What about you?" she asked.
"Oh, me? My job's not as interesting. I work as a financial adviser. I help people organize their money and investments and plan for the future." He kept going before Bonnie had a chance to respond. "I want to play a game."
"A game?" Bonnie looked around. The café didn't have card games. People were supposed to read books as they were eating.
"Yeah, I want to see if you can really tell when I'm lying."
Bonnie stopped herself short from rolling her eyes. So many people tried this with her, thinking she was some sort of magician or mind-reader. But Nick was so cute as he asked that she couldn't say no.
"Okay, go ahead," she said.
"I think you're cute," Nick looked at Bonnie with the most open and honest eyes that she knew right away he was telling the truth. She blushed just a little.
"You're telling the truth."
"Was that too easy?"
Bonnie shrugged and stared into her coffee, knowing that she was giving off signs of pleased embarrassment. But the problem was that she was married.
And he was giving her that *look*. That look that told her that she was about to be seduced...
