Feeding Birds Irreplicable Dirt is a collection of four short stories. These drama stories tackle loss, along with other emotional issues, and provide perspective on societal issues.
"Birds Without Feathers" is a story about a boy, Jake, who likes to pretend to be a scarecrow, much to the chagrin of his father and brother. Throughout the story, Jake wants to stay true to himself, but also make others happy.
In "Irreplicable", a young girl, Laney, finds a mylar balloon that doesn't seem to deflate. She takes it with her everywhere. Her father is worried about her attachment to the fragile item and attempts to replace it with something more permanent, a family cat.
"Don't Feed the Ghosts" follows a local cop, Officer Carter, as he responds to a call at the local cemetery. There, he finds a strange man with a wide array of food. When the man tells Officer Carter that he is "feeding the ghosts", the police officer must decide if he is crazy or telling the truth.
"Dirt and Bones" is about two American soldiers in Vietnam tasked with burying the body of a young woman in the jungle. While digging, the two discuss their futures and try to avoid their enemy.
