During his late college years, Roosevelt met and fell in love with Eleanor Roosevelt, a distant cousin he had first met at a family Christmas celebration in 1898. A year before his completion at Harvard, he asked Eleanor to marry him.
Years later, Roosevelt became the president of the United States. He rapidly created a remarkable presence in the White House. He was again chosen for his second term as the president. This time, the United States had barely made its way out of the Depression. Hostility also occurred during his period because of the tension between Germany, Italy, and Japan. Roosevelt chose to run for the third time because he believed that the nation required further leadership to face what may turn into another great crisis in under three decades. In his last term, The Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, which provoked Roosevelt to declare war. On April 12, 1945, Franklin Delano Roosevelt died due to massive cerebral hemorrhage.
