Jo Darby never believes the local gossip, especially when that gossip claims that her favorite movie star, Eli Hunt, will be filming in their small town. That kind of thing is always too good to be true. And yet, the film crew rolls into town and Jo can't contain her excitement—even joining the movie as a background extra while her older sister, Dottie, stays home. But when a film crew member is murdered on Jo's first day on set, her excitement turns to dread. Now, not only is all filming cancelled for the immediate future, but the sheriff's prime suspect is Jo's beloved actor, Eli Hunt.
Thrown into a world of secrets and suspicions, Jo finds herself struggling to know what is real, and who is telling the truth. With the help of Dottie and their cat Ava, she determines to catch the real killer and clear Eli's name.
