(Born Jan 1, 1977) Rowan Duncan is an American writer whose range of genres includes Crime, Neo-Noir, Neo-Western, Thriller, Horror, Southern Gothic, Existentialism, and Others.
A lifelong native Texan, Duncan was born in the small, rural town of Floydada, Texas, and was raised near Lubbock on the Texas South Plains. As a writer, his interests lie heavily in exploring or exposing the darker elements of human nature.
He began writing at the age of fifteen after winning a short story contest put on by his 8th grade English teacher. It was his very first time writing anything fictional.
Some of his literary influences include Edgar Allan Poe, Arthur Conan Doyle, Ernest Hemingway, Stephen King, and Cormac McCarthy.
In the murky swamplands of Southeast Texas, where Spanish moss drapes ancient oaks like funeral shrouds, stands a decaying mansion with a blood-soaked history. They call it "The Bonehouse," and its walls hold secrets darker than the blackest bayou waters.
Lorelei Morgan, a hard-drinking L.A. private investigator with more debts than dollars, is desperate enough to take on a job that reeks of danger and madness. Her mission? Uncover the truth behind local legends of hidden treasure and unspeakable crimes within the rotting halls of the Bonehouse. But as Lorelei peels back layers of lies in this forgotten corner of the South, she finds herself ensnared in a web of corruption that spans generations.
"The Bonehouse" is a searing Southern Gothic Noir novella that will leave you questioning the very nature of justice, redemption, and the price we pay for uncovering long-buried truths.
