Born in 1957, Michael grew up in the once industrial heartland of South Yorkshire, where he still lives, with his wife and two sons.
He served as a police officer for thirty-two years, both in uniform and in plain clothes, working in CID, Vice Squad and Drug Squad. He retired in 2006, in the rank of Inspector, finishing his career in charge of a busy CID Department.
Always an avid reader, he began his journey into writing whilst at primary school, emulating the adventure stories of Enid Blyton. As he developed his writing, he experimented with many different genres of work until he discovered the 87th Precinct novels written by Ed McBain. He devoured each and every one of his books and became hooked on writing crime. Experiences from his life as a cop fuelled his stories and he spent much of his time off duty honing his craft as a writer of crime.
Upon his retirement he began drafting the novel he had always promised himself he would write, and in 2010 his debut crime novel ‘Heart of the Demon,’ featuring Detective Sergeant Hunter Kerr, was released.
He now writes and paints full-time in his studio and his work can be seen on his web-site at www.mjfowler.co.uk
Rowan writes books, which makes perfect sense considering you're reading this. Most of his work has never seen the light of day, but some of his stuff is out there. He enjoys low carb moderate protein foods, coffee, and chatting with his favorite author Anna Rose, whose work he highly recommends. Seriously. You can find her at sumaire.com.
He lives in the Southern United States with his wife, roommate, and cats.
When he's not writing, he works at his job with a software company. In his free time, he tends to spend time outdoors, camping or hiking. He also enjoys coffee shops and playing with his cats, Hazel and Kyra.
Toshiya Kamei (they/them) takes inspiration from fairy tales, folklore, and mythology. They attempt to reimagine the past, present, and future while shifting between various perspectives and points of view. Many of their characters are outsiders living on the margins of society.
So many things come to mind when you think of the word dark. Horror, death, bleak, mire, and topics that most people brush over because they are too dreary to think about. The Beauty in Darkness was an anthology concept that was thought up in collaboration with the late TS Woolard when we had made plans to go in together to run Dark Moon Rising Publications. It was his idea to showcase darkness and allow people to see below the surface to witness the ethereal enchantment humanity shies away from. Within these pages, you will find each writer's and artist's interpretation of what darkness means to them written so eloquently, you can't even see the inky abyss the pieces float in. 57 writers and artists came together to bring you short stories, poetry, art, and photography that have been carefully placed within to open your eyes to The Beauty in Darkness.
