Just a small-town girl who grew up in rural South Australia. Bernadette dipped her toes in exotic culture spending a year in Japan as a Rotary Exchange Student. After a move and a few years studying in the big city of Adelaide, she headed on a soul searching journey to the US, Canada, England and Wales, then back again to the US.
Many years and experiences later Bernadette returned to South Australia with a vibrant 2-year-old and another on the way. Raising children on her own brought her face to face with her own deficits and shortcomings and ignited in her the desire to become a better person, to break the glass ceiling on the ways in which she had been raised. Old ways that suppressed, negated and did not recognise her value as a human being. She admits to making her share of mistakes in her efforts to change herself and to raise her children. Whatever she did, she could not be more proud as one daughter has furthered her education at university and the other represented her country in sport internationally.
Bernadette continues to work full time and is looking forward to a time when she can give her full attention to converting her many hastily scribbled ideas into stories and informative reports that she can share with all her readers.
