Jenny Robin Jones explores history through a mechanism of unfolding narrative. The theme of pioneering is strong in her work and was explored in her first book, Writers in Residence: a journey with pioneer New Zealand writers. The theme of belonging is also strong in these books and is the subject of her 2018 publication, Not For Ourselves Alone: Belonging in an Age of Loneliness.
She has also written short stories, travel articles, author biographies and children's non-fiction. A long involvement with the New Zealand Society of Authors included many years' service as its executive director and as its representative on the board of Copyright Licensing Limited. She was a long-term chair of the selection panel for the annual CLL awards.
Jenny Robin Jones was born in Wellington, New Zealand in 1947 and brought up in England. In 1970 she returned to New Zealand where she now lives.
