John Henry Sheridan is a singer-songwriter, guitarist, teacher, composer, and musician. Along with formal musical training in both classical and jazz music, he also has accumulated several years of practical experience as a member and contributing songwriter for several groups in various genres.
His unique blend of rock, acoustic, and folk music can be found on all major music streaming platforms. John Henry’s music is continually evolving. While once his music was quite heavy and serious, it now regularly incorporates more light-hearted, energetic, and kid-friendly elements.
Among his diverse teaching experiences, his work with the non-profit organization Rock Asylum showcases inter-generational teamwork through the culmination of their educational song and video “American Revolution” (2013).
In his travels throughout the world, John Henry has had the privilege to perform on four continents. The life experience and wisdom that he has gained through his world travels are a significant part of what drives him to share his life story through music, writing and speaking.
John Henry has published 3 books for beginner guitarists which implement his Single String TAB Method: Single String Songs Vol.1, Single String Halloween Songs, Single String Exercise-Songs – Curious Creatures. These materials have begun to be taught and learned throughout the USA as well as abroad.
Informed by his practice of Nichiren Buddhism as a member of the lay Buddhist organization SGI, he seeks to bridge people together through dialogue and the arts with the aim of co-creating a mutually supportive environment for people to flourish in a peaceful world. One manifestation of this is his livestream talk show Music, Philosophy & More Podcast which is a dialogue show featuring diverse people aimed at celebrating our common humanity and the beauty of each human being’s journey.
His interests lie in empowering people to follow their dreams, listen to their heart, and enjoy their lives. His journeys have taken him to live abroad in Brazil and Japan. He now resides in his hometown of Marine Park, Brooklyn, NY with his family.
