Karl Alexander was an American writer. Born and raised in Los Angeles, he was the son and nephew of screenwriters—his father wrote the screenplay for Old Yeller, and his uncle wrote the screenplay for Ben-Hur—and worked on a number of films himself. In addition to Time After Time, Alexander wrote six other novels including The Long Shadow, Time-Crossed Lovers, Papa and Fidel and Jaclyn the Ripper, the sequel to Time After Time.
