Melanie Jay: mother, daughter, sister, friend, colleague, worker, volunteer, social butterfly—by day and night.
I am in the midst of writing a few amazing creative fiction novels; they are entirely made-up stories, and they all connect in weird and wonderful ways. Blame it on The Macallan, Jinx, The Butterfly Necklace, The Gaffer, Tigerlily Queeen (yes, spelt with a triple e.)
I self-published a personal story, Bee Sting – My Bali Diary, ten years ago and again one year ago, Bee Sting My Bali Diary – Edit 2022, an edited version of the same story with twenty years of reflection. I have renamed the book Twenty Years an Angel. My first husband was killed in the Bali bombings of 2002, and I have grown through the grief of his loss over the past twenty years, partly because I have been able to express my deepest emotions through words and poetry. My story is intended to help others to learn to live through grief and beyond it.
About ten years ago, I discovered that I love to write creative novels and poetry when life inspires me and gives me time to do so. Writing is my hobby, passion and creative outlet that fulfils my happiness and joy in life. I have two incredible daughters, aged 18 and 19. They are my best friends, and I love them both wholeheartedly. I have a beautiful, simple life. I have lived in a tiny house for three years, and more recently I am moving to Malta. I'm passionate about education, and my full-time job has been teaching for almost thirty years. In my spare time, I love to play with music and adventurous people, and I love being creative with photography, music and words. My mind thinks in pictures, movies, words and stories. It never stops thinking. I love it!
