Al-Habib Muhammad bin 'Alawi Al-Aydrus Ba'alawi, known by the name Al-Habib Sa'ad, was born in Tarim, Hadhramaut, Yemen in the year 1351H. He resided there and acquired knowledge from various scholars, particularly in Ribat, Tarim. Among his teachers were Al-Habib 'Alawi bin Syihab and Al-Habib Muhammad bin Salim bin Hafiz.
After completing his studies, he moved to 'Adn to seek a livelihood, but he encountered the violence of the Communist group there, which led to his imprisonment for four years. It was during this time that he devoted himself to the study and memorization of the Quran.
Upon returning to Tarim, he was appointed to the esteemed position of Imam at Masjid Al-Imam Al-Saqqaf and became a Quran teacher at Qubbah Abu Maryam. Among his students were Al-Habib Umar bin Hafiz ibn Sheikh Abu Bakar bin Salim and Al-Habib Ali Zainal Abidin Al-Jufri.
He had a deep passion for reading and writing. He authored nearly seventy books and actively participated in scholarly conferences and discussions worldwide. He was truly a knowledgeable person, a mentor, a literary figure, a researcher, and possessed vast knowledge, always eager to assist students of religious knowledge.
On October 6, 2011 (9th of Zulkaedah, 1432H), he returned to the mercy of Allah, after nearly 40 years of dedicated service in imparting religious knowledge, particularly in the field of the Quran.
