The author lives with her spouse, pet chickens, dog and cat smack dab in the middle of the Midwest on a small farm.

She worked as a veterinary assistant for many years, putting into a job what she had done on her own for years: helping animals.
When not writing, she can be found gardening, doing multiple crafts, reading, building something for the chickens, and spending time with horses. Whenever needed, she spends time helping or caring for various critters.
