Patrick Roy est né en 1977 à Danville, en Estrie. Il est l’auteur de La ballade de Nicolas Jones (2010) et des Singes de Gandhi (2013), tous deux parus au Quartanier. Il travaille comme réviseur dans un cabinet de traduction et vit à Montréal depuis 2012, après avoir habité presque quinze ans à Québec. L’homme qui a vu l’ours est son deuxième roman.
