Philip L. Preston began his writing journey at the age of 14 with the first chapters of his debut novel, A Piper's Tale. Now, at 18, his first book is published, and he's hard at work on his second, with many more in the pipeline. Philip enjoys spending time at his family's house in Wisconsin, where he kayaks—mastering the art of rolling over and righting himself in the water.
Philip has a deep passion for history, particularly Inuit history, which he has studied extensively on his own. For the past five years, he's also been practicing Mongolian throat singing, even winning a competition in 2022.
When not writing or learning, you'll likely find him skateboarding to school on one of his custom-painted boards, embodying a relaxed, surfer-like vibe. He also enjoys carving wood, soapstone, and bone, as well as walking long distances, despite his aversion to hiking. His musical tastes range from old-school surf guitar to classical piano and even early 1920s country music.
For Philip, nothing quite beats a meal of roasted chicken, wild rice, broccoli, and a generous helping of gravy. He lives in northern Illinois with his family, four dogs, three cats, and twenty chickens. Philip is looking forward to starting college and has his sights set on a university in Wisconsin.
