The author, Sufi Abdul Aziz came to UK from Kashmir in 1967 at the age of thirteen. He graduated in Biomedical Science and worked in various hospitals in blood sciences departments. The author pursued a postgraduate course for a year in islamic studies with the University of Wales at Lampeter.
He joined the labour party at the age of sixteen and became local constituency secretary a year later. After twenty years, he became disillusioned with dirty politics within local labour party and after September eleven atrocities and Iraq war, he joined Liberal democrats. He campaigned in local and parliamentary elections over the years and was himself a candidate in the notorious 2004 local election, when he and his colleagues were victims of the postal vote fraud. That election was subsequently declared void by the High Court and a re-run of the election was ordered. The author, was elected as a Councillor for the city of Birmingham in 2005. In 2008, he was appointed Justice of Peace for England and Wales.
