T. Baron Russell is an English writer of the late 19th and early 20th centuries who is little known by literary historians now except for the rather indulgent criticism that the young James Joyce devoted to his naturalistic novel. Borlase and Son , which appeared in 1903. He had previously published various short stories and novels ( The Mandate , A Guardian of the Poor ) and, in 1893 Current Americanisms: a dictionary of words and phrases in common use, an essay in which he was the specifics linguistics of American English he observed the progressive Americanization of the English language.
