Née en 1974 au Kenya, Yvonne Adhiambo Owuor vit en Australie. Elle a reçu en 2003 le Caine Prize for African Writing pour sa nouvelle Weight of Whispers. Son premier roman, publié par Granta (Royaume-Uni) et Knopf (Etats-Unis) en 2014, finlaiste du Folio Prize et du FT/Oppenheimer Emerging Voices Award, a récemment reçu la plus haute distinction littéraire kenyane, le Jomo Kenyatta Prize for Literature. Il est en cours de traduction en Allemagne.
