Tom began his journey riding and jumping horses when he was eleven and became a state champion and a lifetime horse lover. Then realizing that he needed to learn more than just the horse world, he started writing poems at Occidental College as a way of learning to express himself. After finishing college he lived in Kyoto Japan teaching English to children and businessmen. When he came back to the United States, he became a management consultant and business owner. Tom is now retired after selling the company and lives in California and Saigon. He spends his time riding horses, enjoying sushi, writing, and traveling the world.
My visit to Ireland started with riding at Castle Leslie. Everyday we went riding in the morning and in the afternoon. We rode in the forest and countryside, walking, trotting, cantering, galloping, and jumping with the wind always being at our backs.
After my week of riding I rented a car and drove South to see the Millstreet International Horse Trials and was impressed watching the bold horses and riders jump the cross country fences. Next I drove West to the Dingle Peninsula and stayed at the seaside town of Dingle. Then I returned to Dublin where I learned the Irish are passionate about their horses, their football, and their Guinness beer
