Raised in a multicultural background, Bella was offered her very first book at age two. Her paternal grandmother must have thought there was no such thing as too early, when it comes to exposing children to culture and literature. Between the fascinating experience of having her dad turn into the typical afro-caribbean storyteller before her eyes on a whim and the vast collection of books available to her at home and at her grandma's, it didn't surprise anyone when she attempted to write her first story at age nine. A songwriter first, she later explored other writing formats after having studied English literature in a Parisian university. For more info, please visit the website or the LinkedIn profile...
Poetry showcasing an afro-Caribbean female perspective on topics such as loss, grief, love, loneliness, justice, resilience... Some of the poems touch on more mature subjects. Not meant for younger readers. The words of a woman of mixed heritage and of primarily African descent may ring different to readers unfamiliar with the toxic beauty found in the French West-Indies and yet, one may find them more relatable than expected.
