His name was Washington, his name was Lee … & he was definitely a general.
This is the story of Raymond Lee Washington — founder of the Crips street gang.
It is not a biography, so much as a theatrical re-creation of events which took place in Los Angeles in the late 1960s & early 197os.
The story follows Raymond Lee from his early days as a 15-year old street fighter, to & thru his time in high school — during which he founded an organization which would go on to become world famous.
Washington ended up in prison just a few years later, before ultimately re-emerging onto Los Angeles' streets with an even grander plan.
The way these events unfolded — & the power of the characters involved, incl. J. Edgar Hoover, the FBI, Bunchy Carter, Huey Newton, Ron Karenga, John Huggins Jr., Elaine Brown, Geronimo Pratt, Michael 'Shaft' Conception, Jimel 'Godfather' Barnes, Mac Thomas, Tookie Williams, Greg 'Batman' Davis, Curtis 'Buddha' Morrow & more — completely changed the face of Los Angeles … & nearly every major city in America today.
