A Scot by birth and New Zealander by domicile. Stan Sutherland has come a long way from working in a Scottish shipyard to find himself living in New Zealand and writing books. All of them self-published and the best to date is Life’s Lessons Frae The Links. A book containing inspiring stories about golf and famous golfers.
His interest in what’s popularly called self-development was the driving force to creating Life’s Lessons... and was inspired by a fellow Toastmaster who suggested he give a speech containing 18 interesting golf-related stories. A good idea but of course too long for a 10 minute speech.
Asked why he turned his hand to writing Stan said he had always been interested in telling stories.
A reviewer of his most recent book writes, ‘His interesting style makes you feel you are sitting down chatting rather than reading’.
I make no secret of the fact that the title of this book was inspired by the title of another book – Chicken Soup for the Soul.
The corporate world can be a soulless place and in sharing this collection of quotations with my sometimes caustic, sometimes corny comments I'm hoping you'll enjoy the occasional chuckle.
As a reader of this book you're entitled to know where I am coming from. Therefore you should know that after a 28-year absence from the corporate culture. I was once again working in the corporate scene.
During these 28 years, man had gone to the Moon, the Berlin Wall was torn down and Britain experienced its first female Prime Minister. And yet nothing had really changed in the corporate culture except that the corporate climbers were using new clichés.
