I was born in Ceduna in 1940 and raised on a farm on the edge of Nullabor Plains in remote South Australia. My paternal and maternal grandparents pioneered much of the lands around us which is still owned by our families.
I was a shy well behaved girl as all children were expected to be in those days...seen but not heard...until I went to boarding school and saw there was a different way of life; a life I longed for; a life full of fun and laughter.
Slowly as I made my way in life through many trials and tribulations I unwittingly transformed into a competent, capable, outspoken successful business woman in the days when the general belief was women were put on this earth to support and pamper men.
I had been groomed to marry a farmer.....a neighboring farmer to conveniently merge farmland properties.
Fortunately, as innocent as I was, I had other ideas....and escaped to an unknown world.
Follow this world in my three part autobiography soon available from Smashwords.
Book 1. EUNICE. 1940 to 1960. My first twenty years. Isolated, protected, suppressed.
Book 2. EMERGENCE OF EUNICE. 1960 to 1990. Title says it all....through the era's of . woman's liberation, equality of the sexes and swinging sixties.
Book 3. EUNICE EMERGED. 1990 to 2020. My second life in a whole new world of technology.
I am still alive, fit and healthy and continue to enjoy my hobbies:-
Sewing - I never buy clothes, I can have what I want... I make them... so why not?
Squash- I still play competitively... it keeps my body and mind active and alert.
Socialising with Red Hat groups... woman over 50 who don't want the world to pass them by, we wear red hats and purple frocks in social groups, we don't go un-noticed.
…...and my new hobby... writing.
I figure as I am an Octogenarian I have the liberty to truthfully document my years on this earth... years that were so different from today.
I particularly wanted to document the way of life lived in the mid 20th century to answer many questions from my grandchildren for their descendants.
Authors Note:-
I am horrified and distraught as I witness increasing WASTE in the 21st Century.
Waste of Money. Waste of Time. Waste of Commonsense... Mind.
Also increasing obesity... plus medical and device dependency.
I felt compelled to share shortcuts and life habits I have learned throughout my life in the hope it may help others to save Money, Time and consequently their Minds.
I was born in Ceduna Hospital on the far west of Eyre Peninsular in South Australia quite a few decades ago. (1940)
I lived on a large mixed farm with my parents west of Ceduna on the edge of the Nullarbor Plains until I was 19 years old.
There was no water; no power; no telephone; no nearby shops.
No Higher education.
Television wasn't even a dream.
We had to be self-sufficient; and were: comfortably so.
When I moved to the city of Adelaide as an uneducated 19 year old who had never been employed, I worked as a lowly shop assistant in the basement of Myer Department Store.
I relished in the luxury of city living; of running water in the home, light and power at the flick of a switch, chatting on the telephone and shopping in a seemingly endless variety of exciting shops.
I consciously became wasteful.
It was the way of living.
I was a city girl now.
I must live the lifestyle expected of city folks.
I soon adapted, lavishly so....
But my upbringing had deep seated roots which slowly emerged fifty years later as I witnessed the swing back to eco living.
Now in the 21st Century I see a wasteful throw-away society and people struggling to live a healthy natural lifestyle.
I hope the practical everyday hints in this book 'Saving! Money! Time! Mind!' may help readers adjust to a healthier sustainable lifestyle.
Money! There is never enough of it. By adapting these simple everyday habits readers will be surprised how much more money they have.
Time: SO Precious. It cannot be bought or saved; see the many simple ways to use it wisely.
Mind: Be Positive. Commonsense Rules... read how.
I have, over the years, integrated the thoughts and methods in this book into my everyday life. They are now my normal lifestyle.
I know they work. I am fit, still play competitive squash. I am healthy, don't take any medications; and I keep an active mind.
If I can change my lifestyle anyone can!
Give it a Go!
You have nothing to lose... and the rewards will be staggering.
