Born in the Bronx, New York and raised in Newport News, Virginia, Kris M. Bell has been a lover of words since her days as a young girl. She learned to write by age three, and when she was five-years-old, Kris had written and illustrated her first "book." A collection of cut up loose leaf paper bound with glue along one edge, the book contained a short story about a fun-loving monster who befriends a little girl. Even as a child Kris embraced stories and books, and over time they became her passion.
For a short period she refrained from writing, but nowadays Kris M. Bell is taking a more direct approach to her literary ambitions. Recently, she has published her debut fiction romance novel, "What A Person Wants," which is a story of friendship, love, and coming to terms with one's reality over one's perceptions. She has also published several short stories to her personal blog, including "Waking Gavin" and "Dear Diary." One of her most popular nonfiction essays featured in The Huffington Post, "Not Just a 'Black' Girl," details her personal experiences of inter-cultural racism as a woman of mixed heritage. In addition to her essay, short stories, and novel, Kris has also written several scripts for comedian Sam Ridley, some of which are in post and pre-production. She is also a senior editor and writer for Rebel Lifestyle Magazine.
Kris M. Bell is an observer of life and uses her personal experiences and observations to enlighten, educate, and entertain through the written word. Currently working on her second novel, "Awaiting Boaz," Kris takes time out from her schedule to act as a weekly commentator on the DJ Mel radio show (WMEL 104.1), experiment in the kitchen with new recipes, and indulge in soft rock from the 70's.
