Lauren Lola is an author, freelance writer, playwright, and screenwriter based in the San Francisco Bay Area. She graduated from California State University, East Bay with a B.A. in Communication and a minor in Theatre, and is currently taking part in the UCLA Professional Program in Screenwriting. She is the author of the novels, "An Absolute Mind" and "A Moment's Worth," as well as the graphic novel, "Dasig." She has also written and consulted on some of the comic books of Kid Heroes Productions' "Lumpia" franchise. She has written plays that have been produced both virtually and in-person for theatre groups on the West Coast of the United States, and has penned the short films, "Breath of Writing" and "Interview with an Aswang" (which she also co-directed and produced). Her short screenplay, "Disarm," was a semifinalist in the 2023 screenplay competition of the Academy Award-qualifying HollyShorts Film Festival. Lauren has also had writing featured on Mixed Asian Media (formerly known as Hapa Mag), The Nerds of Color, CAAMedia, PBS, YOMYOMF, and other outlets and publications.
Yvonne Hassett and Justin Wang are taking a few days off from their grad studies, to make a trip up to their native San Francisco Bay Area to see the hit musical, "Hamilton." However, upon arrival at the recently opened Warm Springs BART station, they are shocked to discover Islamophobic flyers occupying the front windows of many of the cars in the parking lot. In a time of a toxic political climate, the two friends work to get rid of these flyers, and in the process, experience the effects of being part of the resistance.
