ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Tom Ray, a native of Raleigh, North Carolina, harbors a life-long fascination with aviation, technology, and science, voraciously reading works of Wells, Verne, Clarke, and Heinlein as a child. By 14, he was flying model rockets, learning to program on IBM mainframes, and taking flying lessons.
His creativity and innovative spirit led to writing stories for his friends' amusement and a humor column in his school newspaper. Entering college, he initially majored in journalism at North Carolina State University; however, he found his forte and a steady income in engineering and technology. Retiring in 2010, he rediscovered his passion for creating science fiction and storytelling.
Details matter to Tom; his creed is simple and true, "Small things matter; they cause great things." He spends hours researching and testing concepts, even using the "Kerbal Space Program®" to test the spacecraft in his storytelling, employing science rather than magic to make his novels more exciting. He also draws on his experience in nuclear power, research centers, laboratories, and two decades of IT management, allowing him to see first-hand the impacts of technology on society.
Combining his research and experience, he developed a blueprint for crafting a story out of time; initially, a 3000-page manuscript now broken into novels, "The Archives of Atlanteas" series introduces the hidden nation of Atlanteas and the family connections between Aaron Grayman, the Rödd religion of Atlanteas, and the century-old Shadow Guardians secret police who the Rödd have been in conflict with for decades. The story goes deeper, examining faith, hope, manipulation, morals, and loss, questioning traditional values of morality and what makes life. The Atlantean civilization confronts many aspects of life in the present during two centuries in the past in an action adventure. Each aspect of the series is a creation of reality and imagination, with a bit of actual science.

Death In The Abyss
Aaron Grayman's story continues in Death in the Abyss. His life has moved far from the simple beginnings of Book 1, finding himself married to runaway Priestess Nacetti Passur of the Rödd theocracy and soon to enter into polygamy with his past lover, Shana Annavan, whom his wife is protecting from assassination.
Elder Pieter Lomanov plans to kill them; his animosity goes beyond his ability to control. Has his past protégé Shakti Kappas lured him into a fugue of power or a deathtrap for himself, his present protégé Vaalkáis Kye, and thousands more to become worldwide Emporer? Vaalkáis is torn by his fanaticism and an uncontrollable connection to him, twisting her mind.
Suddenly, Atlanteas faces a disaster able to destroy all its history, knowledge, and governance as thoroughly as the Great Tsunami nearly three millennia before.
Can Aaron, Nasseti, and their fiancé Shana solve the complex story from this past in time to save their nation? Can they somehow save Shana's twin sister, Lana, 400,000,000 kilometers away on an asteroid miner, or is she collateral damage to Lomanov's plans? Unknown to all, can Science Fleet Admiral Lisil Pascal protect the heart of Atlanteas and Ensign Dani Juno, or will they become victims of the mad Elder?
The plot is headed for the cliffhanger edge of a deadly abyss in Book 2 of the Archives of Atlanteas.
