This short story tells the tale of the author's 1995 visit to Barringer Meteor Crater in Arizona. When he showed up he was handed a brochure that proclaimed "You are at one of the most extraordinary places on earth!" That is not an exaggeration. Fifty thousand years ago, a rock from outer space traveling at several miles per second smashed into what would one day be called Arizona. Barringer Meteor Crater is the result. The main book resulted from an 8,000-mile, weeks-long road trip. Along the way the author visited parks, battlefields, and highpoints, plus much more while driving through 23 states.
