Author's note
Oluwakemi was born in Manchester, England. Her formative years was in Lagos, Nigeria. She is a Registered Nurse and also has a passion for writing. From an early age, she always enjoyed writing and telling stories. Her passion for story telling was further nurtured by her maternal grandmother who would spend hours in the evening telling folk stories to Kemi and her siblings with songs and choruses. Her father worried if a career path in writing was sustainable to making a living. This never stopped Kemi from writing. None the less, still gave Kemi positive feedbacks on her writing. Whenever something came to mind, she would be sure to scribble it down. Kemi is currently working as a Registered nurse..
Weep, Weep, Weep my child, The title of this poem, no doubt seem to have gained some roots from Ngũgĩ wa Thiong'o's
Weep not child. This was one of the early introductions to English literature read in high school and no doubt impacted Kay as a young lady. Even so, the struggles are still real today. Despite a seemingly privileged life of growing up in the West, the struggle is palpable and remains a work in progress.
