Jack Nelson was born in upstate New York, raised in California, and lives mostly in the Galápagos Islands since 1967, the same year he hitch-hiked from Panama to California. He was the first guide for scheduled tours in Galápagos. He now is a partner in Scubaiguana.com dive shop in the Galápagos Islands. Jack writes social commentary and legal analysis in Spanish. When in California, he drives a hot rod 1962 Chevy Nova, and writes about that too. His other expensive hobby is fishing.
Generations before this story starts, migration and travel shaped the author's family history. He is a Boomer, the first generation with brain-patterns shaped by consumer electronics. A California Kid from the legendary 1960s; his only car is an iconic Chevy Nova hot rod. He plans a road trip in this antique with the latest online and satellite technology. For joys of the driving itself and the people met along the way, his road trip through the winding country lanes and empty spaces of California, Oregon and Nevada fulfils every dream. Today's realities of environment and population put the adventure into a new context, as an unplanned detour brings him to a stark revelation.
