Robert Smith writes books. After a lifetime of what can only be described as work, he now follows his passion and writes books. Alternative history, sci-fi, contemporary and historical narrative non-fiction.
The Southeast Asia trilogy spans the formation and magnificence of the Khmer Empire, the builders of Angkor Wat in "The Kings of Angkor," and moves onto the kingdom that finally conquered the Angkorian empire in "The Kings of Ayutthaya." The trilogy concludes with "The Kings of the Toungoo Empire," the largest empire in the history of Southeast Asia, and one many have never heard of.
These books introduce as a narrative rather than as a history book. The history of the region is often shrouded in myth and legend with historical records destroyed by invasion, climate or time. It is not a well recorded history as we are familiar with in the west.
"1809; The Year They Freed the Slaves" and its sequel "The Georgia Secession" looks at what might have been if Thomas Jefferson had freed the slaves.

The book "The Annunaki" has spawned three further books.
The Return of the Druids" a tale of history and terror that commences in the America of 1834 off the coast of Chesapeake Bay when a miasma is released bringing the essence and hatred of the Druids following their massacre by the Roman Suetonius Paullinus and releasing it on the mainland.
"Deep State" again develops one of the themes from the Annunaki as a researcher discovers the facts that the DNA of humans has been altered in the distant past with ramifications for mankind and the manner in which it sees itself.
Book four in the series "The Return of the Annunaki" sees their prophesied return in 2022 where they come back to make their judgement on mankind and how we have developed as a species and, more importantly to them, how we have treated the planet and whether they allow us to remain the dominant species, a species that they created.
The four Annunaki books are now available in a compilation "The Annunaki Novels."
In the late summer of 1834, a schooner fleeing the potato famine in Ireland beaches itself on the east coast of America near the Chesapeake Bay. On board the crew and passenger are all dead; they have killed each other in a vicious, bloody battle on-board.
The ship and its dead cargo are sensed by Mary, an adolescent child who, in turn, is possessed by the presence that stalks the ship. On her death, the "miasma"; the essence of the combined hatred of the Druids following their final battle with Suetonius Paullinus, the Roman general exudes from her body and is released into the atmosphere above America where it will start a reign of terror the like of which the nation has never experienced before.
Captain Bardeeen, Provost of Newport sets out in pursuit and finds himself embroiled in a series of deadly events. Gradually he forms a team to combat this evil. When you think it is all over, it isn't - and it is then that the druids exact their revenge.
A blend of historical fiction, horror, and adult fantasy, The Revenge of the Druids, follows the events as they occur as the Druids set out to reek revenge on the Romans, bringing fear and terror to America in a way never imagined before.
