Land!
Hundreds of acres of it to ride on—and horses...beautiful ones!
Generations of Emma's family carved their livelihood out of the rich Midwest farmlands raising and training horses. Living off the land meant hard work, but for a young girl, immense freedom to dream, endless green pastures to canter across, and the ability to own horses…plenty of them. Family tragedy and loss of the farm proved to Emma that horses were woven into her soul. Her natural gift of unspoken communication with animals and a hunger to own land again becomes the driving force for Emma as an adult to create her own family with an enduring future.
Emma always believed intimate things lost or taken away in childhood, might be what adults spend their whole lives looking for. Emma's own children watched their mother's valiant attempt to reclaim her past life even as heartbreak threatens their security. In a reversal of roles Emma's daughters learn to face adversity, confront uncontrollable combined forces, and strive at all costs to never let go of their love for each other or the family touchstone—the horse.
