She will not be silenced!
Brilliant, corseted, and haunted by spirits from the Borderlands, Ida Craddock, the only surviving daughter of a well-to-do Philadelphia, Quaker patent medicine purveyor and the serving girl he married, is outraged by unmarried women's lack of knowledge about what happens in the marriage bed.
Turning her back on the tight constrictions of Victorian society, Ida strikes out on her own and sets up as a marriage counselor. Eager to share what she views as essential knowledge she runs afoul of Anthony Comstock, the nation's Anti-Obscenity Postal Inspector. Infuriated by her article recommending belly dancing as preparation for marriage, the Inquisitor of Smut sets out to destroy her work and silence her forever.
With prison hanging over her head, Ida and her guardian angels must prepare for a battle they may not be able to win.
CENSORED ANGEL is based on the life of mystic marriage counselor and First Amendment defender, Ida C. Craddock, the woman who helped bring down Anthony Comstock, of Comstock Law infamy, and whose defense led to the formation of the Free Speech league, antecedent of the ACLU. All proceeds are donated to the Freedom to Read Foundation of the American Library Association.
