Bergen, 1905. Dagny Jensen, The Voice of Norway, is a celebrated opera singer at the height of her fame. As the star takes the stage at the opening of Bergen's plush new theatre, singing songs from Edvard Grieg's Peer Gynt, the eyes of the nation are on her.
But this is no ordinary music, and these are no ordinary songs.
Every note unpicks her life. Every song has a story. It takes her back to the wild rugged mountains of the Hardanger fjord, where trolls and folktales shaped her life, where the devastating events of her youth left their deepest scars. The music reawakens her pain and threatens to destroy everything she has come to love...
