The year is 1852. Tragedy strikes the once lively town of Wasa, when an innocent flame sets the whole community ablaze on a hot summer's day. Nothing but ruins are left in its wake, and many are left without homes.
Three young adults - who had once lived vastly different lives - suddenly find themselves dependent on each other. Alfred's family receive refugees to their farm located in the outskirts of town, Amalia struggles to adapt to a life without the luxuries she has grown up with, and Evelyn is haunted by the memories of her escape from the flames.
A year of hardship, challenges and difficult changes lie ahead for all involved, and the rebuilding of the town is bound to be lenghty procedure. The emergence of tender feelings does not make the whole thing easier, either…
