Workbook on The Long Slide: Thirty Years in American Journalism by Tucker Carlson | Discussions Made Easy
Tucker Swanson McNear Carlson is a fervent libertarian-conservative who has never shied away from expressing his political views in the public arena. As a fact-checker for the national conservative newspaper Policy Review, Carlson's first assignment was to learn the ropes, but he eventually left the company because he was dissatisfied with the working conditions., He relocated to Little Rock, Arkansas, where he worked as a reporter for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. In 1995, he became a contributing editor at the Weekly Standard magazine. Carlson has also written columns for publications such as The New York Times and Reader's Digest, among others.
In 2000, Carlson made the crossover to television, co-hosting the short-lived show The Spin Room, which aired on NBC. In 2001, he began co-hosting the CNN debate show Crossfire. In January 2005, CNN announced Carlson's dismissal and the discontinuation of his television show, The Carlson Show.
