Please Note: This is an unofficial companion guide mean to enhance your appreciation of One Italian Summer: A Novel by Rebecca Serle and does not contain any text of the original book.
One Italian Summer is not your typical love story as it revolves around a mother-and-daughter relationship. When Katy’s mother, Carol, died, she felt lost. It even affected her marriage. Carol knows every answer to her questions because she was not just the one who gave birth to Katy, but she was also her daughter’s best friend. The two were supposed to go on a two-week trip to Positano, where Carol spent her summer before meeting Katy’s father. And now that she is gone, Katy has to embark on this journey alone. On her trip, she meets a 30-year-old woman who looked like her mother, and went by the same name. Katy gets to know Carol not as a mother who has all the answers to her life’s most gripping questions, but as a fine young woman who doesn’t even know what choice to make.
