Víctor Véliz Alvear was born in Santiago, Chile. He studied music from a young age, graduating with a Master's degree in that discipline. He also studied science and classical languages.
As a professor he has taught at universities and national schools. As a writer he has written articles for magazines in Chile and abroad and for websites that have disappeared or faded away in the vastness of the virtual cosmos. He has also given conferences and lectures abroad on the local art scene.
Freelance musician, he currently works in different musical groups. A regular reader of the classics and the Spanish Golden Age, he is also an admirer of works by Verne, Poe, Ashton Smith, Lovecraft, Adams, Lem, as well as the nationals Miralles, Aldunate, Correa.
There is a future with an indeterminate date for the Earth. Here, inhabitants with unique powers have appeared, some of them, in all honesty, quite useless. The leader of Merlon, Primer, also with a rare ability, is in charge of putting a stop, together with the FAT and the Planetary Government (the highest authorities to whom he owes obedience), to the ambitions of his counterpart, Syndic, head of The Lair.
However, Primer doubts that the battle he is carrying out is correct, he senses that something is not quite right and he does not know who he can suspect. Syndic, on the contrary, wants to carry out his plan to usurp the planetary command, however, he is burdened with domestic problems, mundane, too pedestrian, which unresolved make the way impossible for him to achieve such a desire.
It takes place among spiritual authorities who are not so spiritual, a plethora of superhumans with dubious powers, an army of artifacts that spy on everyone and change shape at will. For this reason, any household object, a salt shaker for example, can be a potential informer.
Victor Véliz shows us in this comical Science Fiction story, full of absurdity, the insignificance of his main characters, despite how powerful and famous they are, in front of the superstructure of power.
Therefore, do not expect these superheroes and supervillains to behave according to their status, because The Covenant - Merlon and The Lair, is the opposite of the common way superheroes operate.
