The tale of the murders of Jacob Wolf, his wife and five children, and their hired help who was also a relative by marriage to the family is chilling, to say the least. The only survivor of this horrible crime was little baby Emma who was eight months old at the time of the murder.
There are many different theories out there today about what actually happened. Many people believe different things due to the complex case that it was. Henry Layer, a resident on a neighboring farm of the Wold family and was accused of the murder and sentenced to prison. Things got a bit complicated when he went on to sign 3 affidavits, the first where he admitted his guilt, and the last two when he was pleading his innocence. This caused a lot of tension at that time, and even now, and caused a lot of questions to come up.
